It was mentioned (siochanalagoon.tumblr.com/post/147064677746) that Kenya was rather, reluctant, about letting Wes stay with the team at first, and it took Mia (rather viciously) stepping in to convince her to let him stay.

This would be the start of a very rocky relationship between Wes and Kenya.
